Dr. Amy Bakelaar

Dr.  Bakelaar, also known as Dr. Amy, was born in southern Ontario.  She moved to Edmonton on a bit of a whim in 1999 and decided to stay.  The long summer nights are perfect for running, biking or attending festivals and sports events.  Even the Edmonton winters are a lot more fun now that she's discovered the joys of stylish boots!

Dr. Bakelaar has been working as an optometrist in the Edmonton area since 1999.  Her patients love coming in for their annual eye exams and the most frequent comments she hears are "Nobody has ever checked my eyes that thoroughly before." and "I've never had so much fun during an eye exam!"

Oh, you should also ask her about her recent travels - she's always coming back from somewhere off the beaten track.

Dr. Aaron Patel has practiced primary care optometry for over nine years.  He is originally from Edmonton but has also practiced in many clinical settings including private practice and hopital based care in both the United States and Canada. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in 1997 and Pacific University College of Optometry with distinction in 2002.  In 2004, Dr. Patel opened our sister clinic the Alberta Eye Health Clinic in downtown Edmonton.  He has a special interest in ocular disease management and helping those with more challenging eyeglass prescriptions.

Dr. Patel continually exceeds the yearly Alberta College of Optometrists' education requirements in order to deliver his patients the most up to date care possible.  He is currently the President Elect for the Alberta Association of Optometrists and enjoys taking yearly humanitarian visits to provide eye care in less fortunate countries.

He is very excited about being a part of the St. Albert Community
